Our first writing workshop unit is drawing. We work on drawing lines, drawing shapes, drawing faces, drawing people, filling up the white space, adding details, adding words, various illustration techniques and building stamina. We will end our drawing unit with a Mo Willems author study and a hot dog party. This is a great resource for this unit...

WOW! I really like that idea. The crazy thing is that it seem sooo simple! I usually take the "end" of drawing a picture to tell a story but I LOVE the idea of just drawing to DRAW!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

Sarah, the best part about this unit is that it builds their confidence for illustrating their stories later. I no longer hear I can't draw that:)
ReplyDeleteI made the anchor chart with my kiddos this week and they loved it! I am going to make a checklist to go in their writing folder, if it will be okay with you I will post it and give you the credit for a GREAT idea!

ReplyDeleteLinda, I am looking forward to your post! It would be fun to share drawings with each other. April, I so wish that your classroom was next to mine so that we could just share books:) Hope you are having a great year!
